TV sucks ass

What the hell happened to TV? There used to be shows worth watching. Cable TV used to be cool. But not anymore!

Networks are hung up on "reality" shows. Putting a bunch of goobers on a beach is NOT reality. Making people eat gross stuff is NOT reality. Taking a bunch of misfits and making them live together is NOT reality. Swapping moms is NOT reality. Reality is boring. A true reality show would be the "get up and go to work" show, or the "my job sucks and my boss is an asswad" show. It might even be the "my life sucks and I don't know why I have not killed myself yet" show. Network reality shows are about as real as a jewish pope. But idiots keep watching them!

Then there is that crappy American Idol show. Remember the days when you had to know how to sing AND write your own music? American Idol should be renamed "people really good at karaoke". The show blows.

Cable TV used to hold a lot of promise. I remember going from 5 or 6 local channels to about 30 or so channels in 1980 or 81, just in time for MTV (when they played music). There were so many empty channels, and so many possibilities! It was very exciting.

But look at what we have. 2 C-SPAN channels??? WHY?!?!?! But C-SPAN is not the worst. Court TV is. It is even worse than the evil Fox News Network. They take one case at a time and pick it apart down to the smallest detail. And for what?? Does anyone really give a shit? Who wants to sit at home and watch a trial? People will do ANYTHING to get out of jury duty, but then plop their asses on the sofa and watch a trial on TV? I blame OJ for this shit, before his trial no trials were covered gavel to gavel. For that matter, there were few "high profile" cases.

But now you have 4 or so cable news networks, that each have to fill 24 hours a day with something. So they cover things to death. CNN will pick up a story, like the bitch bride who bailed, then not to be left out Fox and MSNBC and all the rest jump in. Then they all compete to see who can say the most about it. They create "high profile" cases that nobody really gives a shit about, then court tv covers the trial. And if the judge has brains and keeps cameras out of the court room, they sit around all day speculating and making shit up while showing water color paintings of the "action". AND PEOPLE WATCH IT! They will spend hours discussing what clothes the defendant wore that day, or speculate on what their choice in shoes means. Legal "experts" have a big on air circle jerk making stuff up, then arguing about whose made up shit is probably correct.

And right now as type, people are tuned into Court TV waiting for the latest in the Michael Jackson case. All the "news" networks are playing along, not to be outdone by another channel.
It is almost like there is nothing else going on EXCEPT for the fluff they report on. Is there some kind of war going on? Nobody would know by watching CNN!

Maybe the problem is that having to deal with a bunch of goobers IS reality, and I get too much of that already.
