Yet Another Update

The power is back on. But the DSL is messed up. So that means I am on dialup.

But it could be worse. It looks like The Big Easy is going to be wiped clean off the map.

Take a few moments to inventory your stuff. New Orleans is going to need A LOT of your stuff. Please, call your local Red Cross chapter right now and ask them about how to make a donation to the Lousiana recovery effort. Do not wait. People needed the stuff 12 hours ago.

You might also buy stuff that will be needed and donate it to a relief agency. The top of the needs list includes BABY SUPPLIES, canned foods, powerded milk, and of course pet foods.

Glad you have power back...

I thought maybe you had taken another vacation, or have been too busy with your job.

Katrina is definitely making a statement.

Glad that you at least have dialup. As anyone living in Florida knows, it will take years for the affected areas to be "fixed."

I'm better at giving money than "things." We donated this A.M. Hope the people who need it will actually get it.

Thanks for this post, LI. Looks like Biloxi is getting it pretty bad too. I just hope there aren't too many deaths...

I've been thinking about you these last few days - sounds like an interesting experience - ha ha. We lost power for a few days because of a blizzard a couple of years ago, so I sort of know what you're going through.

I'm glad your power is back up. At least your AC should work now, right? Houston is pretty crowded right now. We have tons of people from Louisiana and Mississippi in our hotels. Hopefully most of them will be able to return to their homes and stuff with minimal loss. I guess we'll know in the next couple of days.
