Tally Me Banana
It seems that the votes are in, and number 6 won. The pool look. The problem with the pool look is that it does not exactly fit in well with the font colors I have. So, I will need to tweak the font colors a bit so as to make everything look OK. I may have to slightly alter the background image to make the blues slightly darker. Or lighter. Either way the font colors need to be changed.
So I went with 5, but it is not going to be the final new look for 08. I just need more time to play with the look and feel. Ill get around to it.
In other news, winter arrived last night. A front moved through and temperatures are in the mid to lower 30s. For all you Celsius people that is 0 - 5 or so degrees. No lower than 0. But the winds are cranked up so it feels pretty cold. And if you add Miami Standards to the equation it is like a full on blizzard. If you live in the north, imagine that outside it is 50 below freezing, and the carbon dioxide from your breath freezes before your eyes and falls to the ground as dry ice. That is how people are acting.
Today when I was out and about I saw people in Eskimo style jackets. Not as thick of course but with the same basic look. You know, with the fur lined hood that goes over your head. One of those jackets.
Really now - it was not that cold this afternoon! The sun was up. The latitude is still 25 degrees north. Hell 120 nautical miles to the south and it is officially the tropical zone! So it is not like this is Greenland or anything. The wind was blowing at about 20 knots steady, with higher gusts - so there was some wind chill. But I was out in jeans and a short sleeve shirt and did not die. If I was going to be outside all day I would have probably sported something with long sleeves, like a flannel shirt or a lightweight wind breaker. But a jacket? Come on now. Get real. It was not that cold.
If I were outside right now I would bust out with the jacket. And I would probably still be cold because while I have a jacket I lack proper cold weather lower body clothing. All I have are Florida jeans - which have no liner or anything. Long underwear? Yea right. Don't have any of that shit either. The best I could do would be jeans just a little too small for me but that I could still get into, with jeans that fir looser over them. Or my sleeping pants (flannel pajama bottoms) with jeans over them. But more often than not, if I venture too far north in the winter and it gets cold (by South Florida standards) my ass freezes. And my feet freeze. I just have regular shoes but I can double up the socks.
But all in all, this cold snap will being me some good benefits. I may venture into the Everglades this weekend. It has been a while since I rode the Shark Valley loop. I want to do that. The cold will mean less mosquitoes. In fact, it should mean NO mosquitoes. And the alligators will be sunning by the tram road, as the road soaks up heat. So that is always fun. There will be many photos if I go. It all depends on the wind really. The ride is not that far but I do not want to fight a strong head wind either.
There also may be another fishing mission this week.

hey, two first's in a row (i'm not stalkin or anything, -promise!)
my geography is not that flash but we must be on polar opposites.....we are in the midst of a heatwave that has been going on since christmas day. some days have topped 40 C, and still there is no end in sight (today was 36 C)...oh for some rain and a cold wind.
Brr, I am a little bit cold today. At least there are some sunny spots to bask in.
Number 6 was cool. This one is good, too.
so everyone picked number 6 but your not going to use it? now i'm confused. Can't you tweak the fonts from the customize page on blogger? I vote for the pool also sorry i'm late but I was doing epic things
It's 20 degrees here but the good news in the mid-Atlantic is that winter is nearly over.
Ponder - you are in opposite land. when it is winter here it is summer there. Something about the equator causes this.
Daisy - Skipper got outside today. He does not have an undercoat. When he came in his ears were cold, but he would not let me warm them up with my hand. He would attack me. I think he likes cold ears.
Scarlet - I intend to swap to 6, but I have to change it a bit. I have to change the font colors and other things so it shows better against the background.
Doozie - I did not swap to the new blogger template thing. My template is pure HTML. So it takes longer to change stuff.
Actionbell - the chick with the jacket was hot. So she gets a free pass. It was probably fake fur too. The thing is that sometimes it gets cool enough that you want a jacket. So we have them. But we do not get to wear them that often. She probably bought her jacket a long time ago and was waiting for an excuse to wear it.
M@ - that is not good news at all. When winter ends, the bugs come back. And the hurricanes come back.
Saw this about Frozen Iguanas in Florida.

It was 15 F here this morning. The Fuzz broke out the long johns.
Fuzz - this happens from time to time. The lizards get cold and appear to be dead. Some do die, but those are probably the sick and/or weaker ones anyway. People bring them inside and they "recover". A wild iguana is NOT something you want in your home or car. They have sharp claws and can whip you with their tail.
In their native land, it never gets even close to freezing. So the iguanas are a little out of their element. But it does not stay cold enough long enough to knock them out.
They are not native to Florida, it would be good to get rid of all the wild exotic reptiles here. They are causing problems. Not so much the iguanas, they only eat plants. But wild Nile Monitors and wild pythons and anacondas ARE a problem
ok dude,....you need to change to new blogger then you can edit all kinds of stuff
I feel kinda weird right now...I am making cookies and my face is warm
Lazy just stay away from Bill Bags Cape Florida Park and you won't have to worry about ending up in someone's recipe for chicken of the tree! The park managers missed a good opportunity to get rid of some invasive exotics but instead they will hire a consultant to study how to trap them humanely for millions of dollars.
Doozie - If I switch I lose my cool three column thing I have going on now. I do not mind the HTML template. I can change stuff, it just takes a bit longer. And I learn some HTML code. But still, I may switch.
Charlie - Last few times I was Bill Baggs park it was from the water. I can get in for free if I want, anchor up and swim in. But it is cheaper to pay admission. The boat ramp fees are $12 now. The toll to get to Key Biscayne with a single axle trailer is $9. Thats $21 just to get the boat in the water, plus $3 and change a gallon for gas and $20 a gallon for two cycle DFI oil?!??! Holy crap.
They will never get rid of the lizards there. The old zoo area of Crandon Park is an iguana sanctuary now. Tropical Park is also chock full of iguanas. They are everywhere.
I really like this background. So easy on the eye--so soothing--I am going into a trance now...
Seriously, it looks great. Even better than the purple wavy one.
I think I am the only one who liked the purple background. And to be honest, I did not like it that much. This one is cool. I may keep it. It is growing on me.
